Crane Certification Port Coquitlam - The Crane Certification training program covers content suggested by industry regarding the efficient and safe operation of cranes. People training will be taught the following: pre-operational, operational and post operating requirements; how to identify cranes and their component parts; rigging components and inspection/rejection criteria; how to determine overall lift capacity; and requirements specific to the work place where the individuals training will be operating.
The requirements which must be done prior to operating a crane such as assigning authority for the pre-operational check; doing the sequential pre-operational check based on the manufacturer's specifications or specifications certified by a professional engineer; checking the log book for comments; checking the work place for hazards and obstacles; checking cables, hooks, chains safety latches and crane movement; ensuring the correct functioning of operational controls; and knowing how to make sure that the disconnect switch/isolator of the crane is correctly functioning.
The requirements to operating a crane would consist of the identifying of roles and responsibilities, and the determination of the need for a formal lift plan. The trainee would be taught how to do danger assessments for the varying environmental situations, physical situations and workers. Subject matter includes determining when to seek competent help, the destination of loads and the safest route, and centre of gravity and load weight.
It is very important for trainees to be able to identify an over-capacity lift, choose appropriate rigging equipment, know load limitations, and determine a safe place from which to operate. Trainees will review both universal and site-specific crane signals for lifts, and techniques for lifting, loading and traveling. Correct maintenance practice will be included.
Individuals training would be evaluated on their understanding of the need for emergency response procedures for various circumstances like for instance an electrical or mechanical failure. They would be asked to describe parking and shut down procedures for security and safety, to follow tagging and lock out procedures, and to explain the reason why near misses are reported and recorded to the right individual. Log book records should be maintained.
Trainees would develop knowledge of rigging, in particular, establishing who has authority and responsibility for rigging, identifying various kinds of rigging, knowing load capacity ratings and storage procedures.
The requirements after operation of the crane would be taught also, learning to enter the defects and deficiencies; and to log the history of service and maintenance records, in accordance to the federal, state and provincial codes requirements.
Additionally, we incorporate site-specific needs in order to meet the employers needs into our crane certification training program.
